Research into title sequences 1&2

Title Sequences

Mimic (1997)

Film summary:

A virulent new disease is killing the children of Manhattan and has reached epidemic proportions. Peter Mann in desperation asks the entomologist, Dr. Susan Tyler, if she can help by killing the disease carrier, the common cockroach. Susan genetically engineers a new species of predatory insect to exterminate the cockroach and then die off. This novel solution works and the children recover but nature isn't the laboratory and things don't exactly go according to plan. Three years later people start to disappear, mutilated bodies are found and wild rumors of giant insects mimicking man start to emerge from the bag people living in the subway under Manhattan. Peter and Susan are called in to investigate.
I really like this title sequence because of the colour contrast and the effects for each flashing image. I think we could use this same effect when producing a title sequence, we can use brain scans and scans of broken body to suggest someone has clearly been in an accident. We can also use the colour contrast too, to suggest death and new life/heaven.
I also really like the shot of lots of pictures in detail spread out forming a face however in a tragic expression. I think we can use the same idea however use images of a body lying on the ground, images of blood stained car to suggest that person being hit by the car, also have images of Lola's friends murder, so maybe an image of a body lying on the floor in a room with a string wrapped around her neck and a stool tipped over next to her. And maybe also show a variety of frames in a pan shot of Lola and her family and her bf.

I would also like to have the working titles name for the first part of the sequence, I think it'll make the sequence look alot more professional.

To kill a mocking bird (1962)

Film summary:

The place: a small town in the south of the United States. The time: the early 20th century. A black man is accused of raping a woman, and an idealistic lawyer gets to defend him. We start watching the reasons that make his defense far from easy; and that's mostly because nobody in this town seems determined to believe in the guiltlessness of an accused negro.
I really like this title sequence too. I like the background contrast colour, i think grey makes the sequence old fashioned and also gives a creepy affect like something is unsolved. I like the way how they zoom in high depth sometimes and sometimes zoom far out. By doing this they can be suggesting to the viewers that they aren't seeing things clearly and they need to focus more and look at clues by zooming in to details in the film. I think we could do the same for our title sequence. I think instead of using a box full of items, it should be Lola's room and her items being zoomed in and out from and i think we should from in a little bit about hr hobbies so maybe a sketchbook of her and her best friends, concert tickets and an interview for a University, by doing this it'll create a contrast to her actually being dead and the incident scenes of both her and her friend.
I feels like the transitions in this title sequence,  think the fade in and out, and pan shot gives the sequence alot more continuity as every shot bends in with one another suggesting all of the items link in with one another in the film, giving slight hints to the audience.
