Music

Sound effects

Throughout our film, we will be using many different sounds to create different effects. As the title sequence appears on screen, we will use sound effects of different hospital equipment with a particular focus on a heart monitor machine.  The beeping will be consistent throughout the title sequence. However, when the first scene is about to be shown the beeping will then become one long consecutive beep to indicate something isn't right, then the beeping will then come to a dramatic stop as Lola opens her eyes.
Sound effects will also help to create a more realistic atmosphere because the sounds we will use will have been taken directly from the source and will therefore be accurate.

Here is a similar opening sound effect that we will use in the beginning scene.

Non- Diagetic sounds

To help create a more intense atmosphere, we will be using soundtracks on different scenes to help set the mood and link to the situation. For example, when the Lola see's the accident scene, sad music will be played to imply the heartbreak and misery that so many people has felt from that accident, also, the music will be sympathetic to show Lola's naivety as she has not realised that she was the one who died there.

We aim to use similar music to the one illustrated above. A powerful piano piece will really help to create an intense atmosphere.

Diagetic sound

Throughout our film, we will be using different forms of diegetic sounds. For example, things like car engines as they drive past on different scenes... Also, things like phones ringing and music playing out of iPods and other music devices will be shown to constantly remind the audience that Lola is still a teenager so she still relies on technology and its a huge part of her life. Again, this will also be very effective when emphasizing  the fact that she's actually dead. For example, she could try to send a text to her boyfriend saying she's coming to visit however, he never actually receives a text.

Ambient sounds

To make our film look and sound more realistic we will use ambient sounds giving the film verisimilitude to the real word. For example in the hospital scenes, we will use ambient sounds of footsteps in corridors and faint cries and talking to give the audience the impression that both girls are in a real hospital. Also, it will help break the silence making it seem less awkward. Another scene where will use ambient sounds will be when the girls are walking at the side of the road. Here we will use sounds of birds tweeting and cars passing a distance away. Again this breaks up the silence and makes the scene more realistic.

When choosing our music, we need to make sure that we don't use any copy-write music, so below i have attached some links to free music websites in which we can use for our film. Click on the Links to be taken directly to the free music websites.
